Sin of Forgetting the Quran

forgetting Quran - sin of forgetting Quran

is it a sin if a person Forgets the Quran after memorization?

Forgetting the Holy Quran after memorizing is a grave sin, There are harsh words in Hadith Sharif about such a person, so is in the narration of Abu Dawud:

“قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏“‏ مَا مِنِ امْرِئٍ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ يَنْسَاهُ إِلاَّ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَجْذَمَ‏”

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: No man recites the Quran, then forgets it, but will meet Allah on the Day of judgment in a maimed condition (or empty-hand, or with no excuse). Ref: Abu Dawood: Hadith: 1474

Thus, a person who, due to his negligence, laziness, and carelessness, forgets the Holy Quran so much that he cannot read it at all even by looking, is included in these Harsh words.

If a person always tries to remember the Holy Quran and works hard for it. But due to lack of memory, he forgets again and again then we hope he will be safe from these harsh words. In’sha’Allah

Satan deceives some people that don’t memorize the Holy Quran it will lead to sin if forget, and Allah says:

اِنَّ کَیْدَ الشَّیْطَانِ کَانَ ضَعِیْفًا
Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak. Surah Nisa: 76

And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? Surah Qamar: 17
