غُفْرَانَکَ ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ أَذْهَبَ عَنِّي الأَذَىٰ وَعَافَانِي

Transliteration: Gufranaka, Alhamdulilla hil Lazi Azhaba Annil aza wa Aafanee

English Translation: I ask you (Allah) for forgivnes, all praises to Allah who has taken away my discomfort and granted me relief

How to act after using the toilet?

Etiquettes to follow after using toilet:

  • Rub your hand on soil or wash with soap
  • Take out with the right foot
  • Recite Dua after leaving the toilet

What is to be said when exiting the toilet?

Aysha (May Allah be pleased with her) said:

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنَ الْخَلَاءِ قَالَ «غفرانك» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَابْن مَاجَه والدارمي

‘Aysha told that when the Prophet came out from the privy he said, “Grant Thy forgiveness.”

Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it. Mishkat

Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنَ الْخَلاَءِ قَالَ ‏ “‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ عَنِّي الأَذَى وَعَافَانِي ‏”‏ ‏.‏

“Whenever the Prophet exited the toilet, he would say: ‘Al-hamdu lillahilladhi adhhaba ‘annial-adha wa ‘afani (Praise is to Allah Who has relieved me of impurity and given me good health).'”
